Parrot in a cageExotic Animals Are Not Pets
November 2008

Animal dealers claim the sale of reptiles as pets is on the increase. Yet what they don’t reveal is the suffering and death that lies behind keeping exotic animals - including snakes, lizards, tortoises, birds and monkeys - as pets.

A new factsheet from CAPS reveals the animal cruelty, the damage to conservation and the disease risks to humans from the trade in wild animals as pets.

Read our factsheet in HTML version - including full references, or PDF format. You can also order copies of the factsheet and our exotic pet campaign leaflet here.
